Class Limit
There is a 12 person Class limit.
Class/Group Format
Each session will start with a 1.25 hour Peer Support group, made up of the students in the class. Students are encouraged to bring up their own issues and challenges within their own recovery and life, and to practice group participation and facilitation. The rest of the class time will deal with our PSS curriculum. As the calendar progresses, we will hear from a variety of learned and experienced peers and professionals who will assist us with some of the important aspects of group facilitation, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, passion development, and other tools to help our future clients. Earning the certificate
In order to receive the certificate for the state of Arizona for Peer Support Specialist, all students must complete the class, score a minimum of 80% on the open book/note final, and do an internship of 150 hours. All fees and tuition must be paid prior to the granting of a certificate.
Tuition and payment options
If you are an AHCCCS client of Care 1st, and receiving services for behavioral health, there is a chance that the training can be paid by AHCCCS. Otherwise, the tuition for the September, 2019 training is $750. We have a limited number of scholarships, work-study, payment plans and discounts available for candidates. There is a required minimum non-refundable down payment of $250.00 to reserve your spot in the class. We are limited to 12 Students per class section
